By accessing or using any website, portal, application, or digital service (collectively, the "Platforms") operated by the International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality ("IITH," "we," "us," "our"), you ("User," "you," "your") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease using the Platforms.
These Terms apply to: the main IITH website, Student Portal, Staff Portal, International Journal of Tourism and Technology (IJTT), News and Events Portal, any mobile applications, and all subdomains and related digital services.
Use of certain features (student enrollment, employment, journal publication, accommodation) is governed by separate, specific agreements. In the event of a conflict, those specific agreements prevail for their respective subject matter.
IITH reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Modifications are effective: for non-material changes: Upon posting; for material changes: 30 days after notification via email and/or prominent notice on the Platform.
You represent that you are at least 18 years of age, or if under 18, you are using the Platform under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Platform-specific age requirements apply.
To access certain features, you must register for an Account. You agree to provide accurate information, maintain its currency, keep your password secure, and accept responsibility for all activities under your Account.
IITH reserves the right to verify your identity. Institutional accounts require use of your officially assigned IITH email address.
You agree to use the Platforms only for their intended lawful purposes.
You agree not to: violate laws; harass others; impersonate; engage in fraud; plagiarize; circumvent security; introduce malware; infringe intellectual property; send spam; or misuse institutional resources.
Authors warrant originality; Reviewers maintain confidentiality; Editors uphold ethical standards; all comply with COPE guidelines.
All IITH Content is the property of IITH or its licensors. IITH grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access IITH Content for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes. By submitting User Content, you grant IITH a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it in connection with Platform operations.
The Platforms may contain links to third-party websites not owned or controlled by IITH. We are not liable for any damage or loss caused by your use of third-party services.
THE PLATFORMS AND ALL IITH CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. IITH EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IITH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. THE AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED NGN 50,000 OR USD 100 (WHICHEVER IS THE CURRENCY OF YOUR PRIMARY INTERACTION).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless IITH from any claims arising from your use of the Platforms, violation of these Terms, or violation of any third-party rights.
IITH reserves the right to suspend or terminate your Account for violation of these Terms, illegal conduct, security risks, or non-payment of fees. Upon termination, your right to access ceases immediately.
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A. Amicable Resolution: The parties shall first attempt good-faith negotiations for 30 days.
B. Mediation: Disputes not resolved amicably shall be submitted to mediation at the Bayelsa Multi-Door Courthouse (BMDC) or a mutually agreed mediation center in Nigeria. Mediation shall be non-binding and conducted in English. Costs shared equally.
C. Arbitration: If mediation fails after 45 days, disputes shall be finally settled by binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, Cap A18, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 (or as amended). The arbitration shall be: Conducted by a single arbitrator mutually agreed upon; In Bayelsa, Nigeria (unless otherwise agreed); In the English language. The award is final and binding.
D. Exceptions: Either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief to prevent irreparable harm.
For court proceedings not subject to arbitration, the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria or the High Court of Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
Users accessing the Platforms from outside Nigeria are responsible for compliance with local laws.
YOU AND IITH AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS A CLASS MEMBER IN ANY REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
IITH shall not be liable for delay or failure resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control.
Severability: If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
Waiver: Failure to enforce any right shall not constitute a waiver.
Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and IITH.
Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without IITH's written consent.
Notices: IITH may provide notices via email or in-Platform notifications. Legal notices to IITH must be sent to support@iithyenagoa.edu.ng.
Student Portal: Subject to Student Code of Conduct. Students retain copyright in submitted work, granting IITH a non-exclusive license for assessment and accreditation purposes.
Staff Portal: Role-based access only. Unauthorized data access is a disciplinary offense.
IJTT Journal: Submission does not guarantee publication. All submissions checked for plagiarism. Accepted papers published under CC BY 4.0 license.

The International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality ("IITH," "we," "us," "our") operates a comprehensive digital ecosystem including the main website, Academic Journal Portal (IJTT), Student Portal, Staff Portal, News Portal, mobile applications, and physical campus systems. This Privacy Policy applies to all personal data collected across these platforms and is drafted to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019, EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA.
Personal Data: Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. Special Categories of Personal Data: Racial origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, biometric data, health data, etc. Processing: Any operation performed on personal data. Data Controller: IITH. Data Processor: Third parties processing data on our behalf.

General Website Visitors: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, geographic location, device information.
Prospective Students: Full name, date of birth, contact information, academic records, test scores, passport photograph.
Enrolled Students: All above plus matriculation number, grades, attendance, disciplinary records, financial records, biometric data, next of kin.
Staff: Employment history, qualifications, NIN, TIN, bank details, pension, performance evaluations, leave records.
Journal Users: Name, ORCID iD, institutional affiliation, manuscripts, reviewer comments, payment information.
Physical Campus Visitors: Name, vehicle registration, CCTV footage, access logs.
We process personal data only when we have a valid lawful basis. Purposes include: processing admissions (contract), providing educational services (contract), employment administration (contract/legal obligation), journal operations (contract/legitimate interest), website analytics (consent), security (legitimate interest/legal obligation), and compliance with law enforcement (legal obligation).
We process sensitive personal data only under strict conditions: explicit consent, employment law obligations, vital interests, legal claims, substantial public interest, or health data processed by health professionals.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data for commercial purposes. We share data with: Regulatory & Accreditation Bodies, Government Agencies, Financial Institutions, Cloud Hosting Providers, LMS Providers, Plagiarism Detection Services, Email Services, Legal Advisors, Partner Institutions, and Research Collaborators under strict safeguards including Data Processing Agreements.
You have the right to: be informed; access your data (Subject Access Request); rectification; erasure (right to be forgotten); restrict processing; data portability; object to processing; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). We respond within 30 calendar days.
We implement technical measures (AES-256 encryption, TLS 1.3, RBAC, MFA, firewalls, IDS/IPS) and organizational measures (DPO, staff training, policies, DPIAs, vendor risk assessments).
In the event of a personal data breach, we notify the supervisory authority within 72 hours and affected data subjects without undue delay where the breach is likely to result in high risk.
We do not knowingly process data of children under 16 without parental/guardian consent. For admitted students under 18, we collect parent/guardian consent at enrollment.
We do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA. California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt-out of sale/sharing of their personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
We adhere to NDPA principles and register with the NDPC as a data controller of major importance where required. DPIAs are conducted for high-risk processing. We conduct and file annual data protection compliance audit returns with the NDPC.
Material changes will be communicated via prominent notice on our website, direct email notification, and in-portal notifications. The "Last Updated" date will reflect the most recent changes.
